water valve would stay open slightly all the time causing the water in the nozzle to the ice maker to freeze and water to backup and drip at the rear of the frig. until i turned the water off

Unplugged the unit, took the back lower panel off, disconnected the feed water line (water was off at this time) undid the connections to the water valve, removed the water valve, installed the new valve, the water line, turned on the water, tested for leaks, no leaks, reinstalled the rear panel and plugged the unit back in, about 15 min later ice was making.
