Instructions direct you to pry the old coupling off the threaded bushing, however in my case, only the metallic center spindle remained attached as the rest of the molded plastic was in small pieces. I could not get enough leverage to pry off the remaining part of the assembly. Decided insert a long thin screwdriver on the bottom side of the motor to stop the rotor from spinning. Carefully turned the spindle in a clockwise direction until the rotor locked and the spindle began to disengage from the drive shaft. Did not want to turn the wheel too abruptly for fear of damaging the motor.
