I saw an online video that showed taking the inside door panel off, removing the wiring from the latch and then replacing the latch. It looked simple and was simple. Luckily, I had a set of so-called "security" bits, which were required to get the door panel off. I had no trouble replacing the latch assembly except the wires to the two switches were very tight. It looked like the factory had squirted some adhesive into the connectors after assembly. I was able to get them off after a brief struggle and had no problems putting them back on the new switches. The latch assembly fit perfectly, which surprised me. My only disappointment was the latch assembly fit a lot of brands, indicating that there is nothing special about Maytag anymore. Too bad. They used to have good products that were unique for their quality. One last comment: Be sure to turn off the circuit breaker feeding the dishwasher or disconnecting its plug. This is the only safe way to work on it.
