Remove cap from inside agitator. Remove 7/16" bolt from deep inside agitator. You need a socket wrench with a long extension to reach this bolt. The agitator pulls straight up and off. The repair kit goes together as shown in the diagram. I broke off the plastic tabs as directed in the instructions using a pair of needle nose pliers, but I am not sure this step was even necessary. Assemble agitator in reverse order of removal, insert and tighten bolt using socket wrench. The new O-ring around agitator cap kept slipping off when I tried to push the cap in all the way, so I just dropped it in without pushing it down. I assumed gravity and the vibration of the agitator will seat the cap completely with time.
