Time to repair was easy and very short -- about 20 minutes. The DIAGNOSTIC time to figure out the part I needed to order was VERY LONG -- about 2 hours. It took a while to figure out how to access the mechanism. My initial assumption was a 'bad solenoid'. It checked "good" for continuity and resistance using a VOM. I tried several things and, finally, noticed the board had a chip that was obviously burned up. Knowing I do not have the tools or talent to replace the chip and not damage the board, I chose to replace the board. Fortunately, my wife was able to order the dual circuit boards (they are a connected 'set') from Part Select. They arrived about 4 days later (not bad, considering we live in a relatively remote area). The 'repair' was easy. Turn off power, remove the ice/water dispenser to expose the electronics and ice door mechanism, disconnect the multi-plug connector from the board, carefully push the plastic clips back to release the old board and lift it out, place the new board into position and carefully snap the plastic clips over the edge of the new board, plug in the connector, power on, test the unit, replace the dispenser cover. Not a hard repair -- once you know what you need. Also, I should mention: The boards cost $164 -- not cheap, but it was a good deal for us. We are selling the house furnished, so if I had not been able to fix it, we would have had to buy a new refrigerator to sell with the house. This saved us about $1000! Thanks for being there Part Select!!
