Based on suggestions that the ice maker dripped due to a faulty dual inlet valve, I replaced it with the most difficult task being the movement of the refrigerator away from the wall. After removing and replacing the valve,I performed a leak check with help from my wife. Drips started on the first filling of the ice maker so I bought a new tray assembly and installed it yesterday. The new ice maker not only has not leaked,it makes cubes that crush easier and neater because the water stays within the individual cube spaces.
The best idea I have of the cause lies with the circuit board in the original ice maker because I found no cracks in the tray after removal. The ice maker allowed too much water in during refill which dripped below and fused all the cubes together after a few days.
