I had to replace the defroster heater harness on my 9 year old GE. I watched a repairman do it about 3 years ago so I knew what the problem was, what part I needed and how to replace it. It's not rocket science but you need to let the refridgerator completly deforst for about 2 days before you replace the part. This is on a side-by-side and the part is at the back of the freezer compartment. There is not much room to work and most of the screws are close to the side wall. A flexable extension for the screwdriver was handy. It halped to have a screwdriver that holds the screws while you get them started as well. The "but" is this refridgerator is only 9 years old an on it's third defrost unit. I an not apt to buy GE appliances in the future.
