The dairy compartment lifts out of the door with no tools (the old one had broken locator tabs, so it would not even stay in place on it's own). I was surprised/ dissapointed to find the replacement part (which at $70 seemed overpriced to begin with) came without the clear plastic cover. It was difficult to extract from the old part- seemed close to breaking point to pry it loose- hence the use of "hot water" listed in the tools needed section). I was finally able to pry the cover from the old compartment without breaking it, and was successful in forcing the hinge pins into their respective holes without damaging anything. Kinda nervous moments, however, to be sure.
