I am a senior, a woman and have never made any such repair in the past, but have experience in easy electrical work, such as hanging fixtures, replacing switches, simple re-wiring of lamps. My washer is so old,(15+ years?) that the configuration of screws and plugs was different from that in the video, which I took the time to watch. However, once I knew that the control panel flips open, I could easily locate the right screws to remove and to unplug the leads of the lid switch. The clips holding the cabinet to the back wall of the washer were also similar and easy to remove and then to pull the cabinet off the machine. The old swith was broken off right at the two screws which hold it to the cabinet. I removed the old switch assembly as instructed, but faced another obstacle: the old switch plug-in had a different configuration of the male/female parts than the new part's plugs. So, my experience with rewiring came in handy. I ended up cutting off the plug end of both parts and replacing the new plug with my old one. I know this is unorthodox and would not recommend it to anyone who's not worked with electricity! I took special care to connect the wires so the connection would be in the back corner, farthest away from any moisture, and wrapped each connection and wire separately and copiously with electric tape, then wrapped the whole again in more tape. After re-assembling everything and turning the washer on, the cycle finished and the washer now works as good as new. Love this old machine!
