I researched dryer repairs on Google and was pretty sure the drum support was worn out after all I read. It made sense as to why clothing, especially anything with string, was getting "caught" right inside the door and coming out with black marks. I printed a basic set of instructions on taking an electric dryer apart, and sure enough, the drum slides and the front drum support were worn out and rubbed slick. I ordered two new drum slides, a new felt gasket and a new front drum support from partselect and hung my clothes outside to dry while waiting on the parts to ship. The replacement of the parts was quite simple, but it would have been easier still had I had something to support the drum while I had the dryer door open. I am not a repair person by any means, I'm a meat cutter, but was determined to make the repair. Patience, a medium sized phillips head and straight head screwdrivers were all it took. The parts arrived within the promised time frame and the dryer is quiet and back in full use! I also wanted to make sure it was safe to use and had my engineer husband check it out before using it again, and he was impressed at my handy work! Ladies, jump right in and have faith in your ability!!!
