I Unplugged the dryer, unscrewed the top, unplugged the timer, plugged in the new timer and screwed the top back on. Then I pushed the knob on and then the dryer cap. You need to be careful not to force it or you can damage the timer. I plugged the dryer back in and it was like new. I saved a lot of money as I didn't need a repairman.
