I unplugged the range. I opened the oven door to reveal 2 screws holding the cooktop in place. I removed the screws and lifted the cooktop. I used a piece of wood to hold the cooktop up. I removed the 8 screws holding the brackets in place that held the burner elements and set the assemblies down. My wife and I each took a side and detached the cooktop hinges from the pins which released the cooktop. Then I reversed the process. We clipped the new cooktop hinge onto the pins, braced it with the wood and replaced the bracket/burner assemblies with the screws previously removed. I set the cooktop down and replaced the 2 screws to secure it in place. I plugged the range back in and turned on all burners to check if it was working. The entire job took under 1 hour and now it looks like the range is brand new.
