Everything worked but the oven
I had to replace the electric oven unit because it had a crack in the coil. The oven still did not work so I had a friend check the electrical parts and was told the oven sensors were no good. Took down all the info I needed off stove and looked it up at partselect.com. Ordered part and when it came in I had my friend take the back panel

Oven was inoperable
Removed the rear covering plate, removed four small screws that held the clock mechanism in place, pulled the four color coded connections, slipped the color coded connections onto the new part, replaced the four screws, finally replaced the rear covering plate. Oven wouldn't heat after loud surge
My wife heard a loud surge when preheating the oven one day. When I restored power, the oven wouldn't heat and half of the oven display would not light. Broiler OK. Range top OK. The oven coil was electrically open after having melted through itself during the surge. I ordered a oven coil from PartSelect, based on model #. Installat
... Read moreion was simple and only involved several easy to remove screws and a couple electrical terminal lugs. I replaced the coil but the oven would not heat beyond 100°F. I ordered a new oven display from PartSelect. PartSelect described what display series is required for a particular serial number. The first 2 #'s of the serial # are the display series required for the oven. My serial's first 2 numbers were 1 and 7, but PartSelect offered only a 10 or 12 series. I ordered a 12 series display and the part was identical. When I removed the faulty display, there were clearly burnt regions of the circuit card. Removal and installation of the display involved a nutdriver, philips screwdriver and circuit card plugs. I am not sure what caused the failure, the display or the element, but, in either case, I believe the cause is eliminated. The total repair costs were around $225 in parts. At the moment of failure, the oven was approximately 5 years old.

Just had a bake element burn out so replaced it. Now neither bake or broil elements heat at all. Clock and surface burners work fine. We also replaced the control board 2 years ago and was working fine. Is there a fuse or thermal break on this model which should be checked? I assume that if i have stove top burners working i have 220v present and assume the terminal block is ok but can check with multi meter. I also need to check the broil element but assume if it was bad i would still get some heat to the bake element. If it is another control board, is there any reason they seem to be failing and any way to check them to avoid expensive replacement?
For model number MER5765RCS
Hi George, thank you for your question. There are a few parts that could cause this issue in your appliance. First I would say test your elements with a multi meter to see if they are working correctly or not. They should be reading between 0 - 50 ohms to be working correctly. The other part you should check would be your oven temperature sensor. That can also be tested with a multi meter and should be reading between 1000 - 1100 ohms. If those three parts are fine however, then the issue may be in your control board. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
