washer stopped filling with water, spin cycle still worked
I found several references on the Internet to problems with the load sensing switch on this model. It is a Whirlpool designed Kenmore 800. The original part has been replaced with a new model so I suspect Whirlpool knew it had a dud part... This was an easy fix once I had the part. Opening up the top of the machine is the biggest puzzle if you are unfamiliar with this design. Slip a putty knife under the front edge corners of the control panel casing on top of the machine to unlock the clips that hold it in place. I was able to flip the case open and access everything I needed without any other tools. The load sensing relay has a piece of plastic tubing and two wiring harnesses that clip into the back of the switch. It is the Fabric Softener switch on the control panel. You will need to remove the knob, the plastic tube and 2 plug-in wiring harnesses and reconnect them to the new switch after installation. There is a small clip on the side of the sensor switch housing that snaps into place, I used needle nose pliers for that and rotated the old switch free of the control panel. Machine was fixed and reassembled in less than fifteen minutes.

This top loader was purchased and installed in July of 2009, Was barely 2 years old 6/7/2012 repair visit When the pressure switch w10292584 Went bad and washer would not drain. The only cycle that works is the quick wash. Please advise

Hello Karen, Thank you for the question. If the appliance is not working on on cycles, you may have a defective Cycle Timer, PartSelect Number PS11749654. The timer controls most of the operations of the washer: water level, tub filling and emptying, length of cycles, and cycle setting sequences.Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

Our washer overflowed during the wash cycle so i moved timer to spin and water spun out and when i tried to run another wash cycle to see if it would overflow again, the washer never would start, never would take on water, and i tried multiple water temps and cycles and no go. Seems like the water control valve at that point would not open. What do you think. I did not think to unplug it to see if valve would shut off when it was first overflowing and now i can't get it to take on water at all. Thanks.

Hi Howard, thank you for your question. There are a couple of parts that you could check. Your water inlet valve would be the first part to take a look at. Then I could suggest taking a look at your water pressure level switch as well, which would be this part you have questioned on. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hi Bill, Thank you for your inquiry. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the water pressure hose and the hose clamp, the direct drive motor pump and the direct drive motor coupling. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The washer will not fill with water, regardless if you turn the dial to "rinse" or "wash". The machine will spin, and it will empty the water, but will not fill, regardless where the dial is set. Could it be the dial, or the sensor switch?
For model number WTW5700VW0

Hello Timothy, thank you for your question. If the unit will not fill with water the most likely issue is the water inlet valve or the pressure switch which is part of the electronic board. We would recommend testing the valve(s) first to determine if they are faulty and if so replace. If the valves are good the electronic board would have to be replaced. I hope this helps.

The washing machine does not turn on when the timer is pulled. Could this just be a timer replacement or is there another switch that effects the power.

Our Whirlpool washer has been working well, but tonight my wife couldn't get it to start. I rotated the control knob until i managed to get it to turn on. However, after pushing the knob back in and stopping it, i could never get it to turn on again with the benefit of water running into the tub. Is this the sensor/control knob?

You will need to check lid switch, the direct drive motor coupling and the motor start capacitor. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

The washing machine overflows the tub, regardless of which soil type is selected. While it continues to fill, I have periodically unplugged the 120 volt power supply, in doing so, the water inlet valve's solenoids close, and the water supply stops. The Fabric Softener switch has a pneumatic tube into the back. Is this Fabric Softener switch actually the pressure switch to control water levels ?

Hi Ken, thank you for your inquiry. Based on our understanding of the issue, we would suggest replacing the pressure switch, part number PS11752185, to solve the problem. It detects the water temperature and water level in the wash tub. We hope this sorts out your problem!
