I slid out the ice maker tray, removed the two screws to take off the cover and found by looking inside the crusher plate had pieces broken off. It looked like it might be hard to remove but after a few seconds of examination I realized that the plate and ice crusher blades came out as an assembly by prying gently on the sides to release the snap-in locks. It came out as an assmebly and the crusher plate needed to be twisted down the auger shaft and off the end. When the new one arrived it was the reverse process with only one hick-up. When installing the assembly back into the tray and just before the assembly snaps back in, the metal rod assembly needs to be positioned in the slot. It is a very simple fix with just a flat blade screw driver (for prying) and a philips for removing the two serews. Really worth the effort.
