The Lid Switch broke due to wear and tear.

I moved the washer away from the wall. I disconnected the electricity, and usuing the owners manual I downloaded from the Whilpool site, I removed the control assembly. Once the control assembly was diconnected, I removed the clips securing the washer cabinet from the back/control panel, I disconnected 1 cable plug between the control panel and the washer body and tilted the washer cabinet away from the back. I disconnected the electrical plug of the lid switch from the washer cabinet, 2 clips which hold the cable conuit, and 2 screws which hold the lid switch in place. I replaced the lid switch in the reverse order and the machine is working fine.
