Instructions and videos were not entirely accurate for this repair on this Whirlpool/Kenmore model. After removal of the agitator cap, there was a retainer spring that needed to be removed with a 1/2 inch socket extension. After unscrewing this retainer holder, the holder for the agitator dogs was visible inside of the top of the agitator auger. The agitator auger just lifted off--it was NOT necessary to remove the screw holding the agitator assembly.
The new agitator dogs assembly just dropped into the top auger agitator. Drop the retainer spring into the auger agitator and tighten with the 1/2 inch socket extension, replace the agitator cap, and you are done.
