Evap ice up and not making ice

I take the cover off the Evap. then used a hand held blow dryer to melt the ice on the Evap. removed the Defrost heater, Tested it , It was shot, put thenew one in and it is workng fine. ( Dont forget I unpluged the Refrigerator befor I do any thing else)
