I first removed the control panel to see if I could connect the wires as designed. I soon realized it was much easier just to splice the wires to connect the new part. I did that using a wire cutter, wire connectors and electrical tape and then attached the lid switch to the machine with a phillips head screw driver (2 screws). Toughest part was the small space within which to work. Otherwise, very simple and machine is back to normal operation.
