A knob on our Jen Air over broke

I ordered the exact same one on partselect.com. Same part number even. But it did not fit. It appears the manufacturer improved the part and made the section of it that breaks bigger in diameter. So it did not fit. I used sections of the old knob to create a wax mold in the new part, then poured epoxy around it. Then used a dremel to clean the surface, and a drill to get the wax out of the new knob.Thanks,
