Sorry, we couldn't find any existing installation instruction that matched.
Apparently and unknown to me the original replacement part was no longer available so I was sent a replacement part.
Before I could start any repairs I first had to adapt the replacement part so it would fit the original application of the part . Tje factory original has two female ends on the water lines , the factory replacement had 1 female and 1male end . This bit of knowledge was not conveyed to me so I had to drive into town as I live out in the country and purchase the parts needed to convert it to fit my refrigerator. After the necessary parts were replaced the installation went smoothly.
If you do not have the ability to refabricated a part you should not try to attempt this you may end up with a leaky part.

Little to no water flow from dispenser.
Roll out the refrigerator. Shut off water supply line. Removed the cover on the back bottom of the fridge and the top left of the fridge where the tubes exit. With a towel on the floor, disconnect the tube coming from the fridge and the supply line. Next go inside the fridge. Above the top shelf, remove the water filter and the cover of the water filter head. Remove the 2 screws securing the filter head in place. Pull the tubes through the opening and install the replacement in the reverse order. Reinstall a fresh water filter. Turn on the water supply line and roll refrigerator back in place.

no water from door water dispenser and valve chattered
Removed water filter and turned off water supply. Remove the metal plate at the rear bottom of refrigerator and the metal plate at the top rear of the refrigerator that covers the exit of the filter housing from the refrigerator. Then disconnected the water supply line and water line from the filter housing mount to the valves that control water to the door and ice maker. From inside the refrigerator, removed the two bolts holding the filter housing and then removed the filter housing and tubing. Reversed the procedure to install the new top filter housing mount with tubing.

Cracked Housing Mount - water leak
Turned off the water. Removed the maintenance cover plate on the back of the refrigerator and disconnected the tubing. Removed the tubing cover plate on back of refrigerator. Removed two screws from filter hosing mount on the inside of the refrigerator and pulled the old tubing out. Simply inserted the new tubing and mounted the housing and reconnected the tubing using plumber’s pipe compound. Then re-installed the cover plates on the back of the refrigerator, installed the filter and turned on the water. It was a very easy install.

Water flow in door slow
Follow instructions about not over tightening the filter cartridge. Add the basic warnings about turning off the water and unplugging the refrigerator. You should also have something to wipe up the water that drains from the hose. The cover comes off when you squeeze it together and pull straight out. While you have the refrigerator out from the wall and the lower back cover off, vacuum the coils.

The ice maker and the water delivery is very slow. Will replacing the filter head fix this?
For model number PSS26SGRBSS

Hello Mike, thank you for reaching out. A clogged water filter is often a culprit of poor water pressure. We would recommend replacing it, the part number is PS8746144. If that does not help, we would suggest checking the Water Inlet Valve, part number PS16226572, or Water Filter Head, part number PS12727276. Please reach out to customer service if you need help placing an order, anyone will be happy to assist you. We hope that helps.

My fridge is about 5 1/2 years old I replaced the water filter with a non GE filter. It immediately started to make a hammering sound, and continued while dispensing water. Also noticed a small amount of water under the filter. s then stopped, but would start again at random and no water dispenses. I tried a second GE filter with the same result and I get a few drops of water under the filter sometimes. Will this part fix the problem?

After scheduled filter change I experienced several seconds of inordinate noise. Now I have low flow at the dispenser with a kind of hissing coming from the filter head area when dispensing. I experience this with both the old and new filter now.
For model number GSE25HMHEHES

Hello James, Thank you for the question. There could be air in the waterline that needs to be bleed. If the lines are clear, you may have a faulty Water Filter Head where the filter plugs in. We hope this information helps!

Model of fridge GSCS3KGYAFSS Good morning, I have replaced my water filter in my refrigerator model number above and it’s leaking from the filter not the water filter head. If I remove the filter it does not leak.
For model number GSCS3KGYAFSS
PartSelect logo
Hello Steve, thank you for reaching out. We looked into your model and found that using the wrong replacement filter might be the reason for this issue. First, make sure you are using the compatible water filter, part number PS874614, and your fridge is properly leveled. If the issue persists, then make sure you have flushed water through the filter and removed the protective cap from the new filter. Keep the O-rings in place before you install them in your refrigerator. This allows water to flow through the filter properly and prevents leaks. We hope this information helps!
