I called the local appliance guy who had no interest in attempting a repair. He did not want to order the $300++ part and get stuck with it if it didn't work. The other repair guy charges $75 to walk in the door, so I decided to self instruct and fix myself.
The previous repair, about 5 years ago, involved replacing the oven computer, so I ordered a new one and installed it. This worked for about 4 hours, and the infernal beeping began again. So much for self diagnosis.
I emailed the Just Answer folks, and Master Tech Bob walked me through a simple diagnosis process which identified the oven keypad as the problem. Ordered a new one, installed the new computer on it and voila, no more F1, no more beeping.
The most difficult part of this was removing the screws holding on the oven vent grate. The oven is only about 2" from the left hand wall and there is barely room to back them out.
