The whirlpool sump is pretty easy to service. Remove the lower cover on the front of the dishwasher, remove drain hose at the front, rotate the drain pump motor and remove it from the sump, there are 3 wedge type tabs that hold the sump to the tub, rotate and remove them then push the sump up into the dishwasher and remove the motor electrical connector and the optical sensor. Reverse process to install. This dishwasher is just over 2 years old and this is the second replacement pump, the first was covered under the 1 year warranty. Maybe this one has a better seal??? time will tell.
