Dishwasher would not latch / and or start
First I watched a YouTube video on replacing a latch. It seemed easy enough, and the guy recommended Part Select. After finding my model, watching the video for the specific latch assembly, reading the reviews/suggestions, I jumped at it. Quickly took the old parts out, and ordered new. I did order an extra spring because like one reviewer noted, having a spring on only one side of the latch is a design flaw, and the reason for the broken latch in the first place. My only problem came on reassembly. I should have taken a photo or two BEFORE taken everything apart. After several trials and errors it went quickly back together AND it worked perfectly.

Door would not close. Latch/handle broken
We first ordered just the latch, because I did not realize the handle was the part that was broken. The mistake was not actually opening up the control panel and seeing what needed to be replaced. Once we realized the problem, I ordered the Door Handle from Partselect. The whole latch mechanism was in pieces and I had to figure out how to place to the pieces back together. The spring was the hardest part. Needlenose pliers and a pair of tweezers helped hook that up. Highly recommend taking the machine apart first, taking pictures of the mechanism and then that will help putting it all back together once you have the parts.

Broken handle
I wasn't sure at first what was causing my door not to latch. When I removed the dishwasher cover, I discovered that the handle had completely broken away on one side and was about to break on the other. It was fairly easy to change out, and I'm not mechanical at all. (Do I dare admit that I'm female?). Watching an online video helped quite a bit. Since I was replacing the handle anyways, I went ahead and ordered new door release springs also. The dishwasher only comes with one, but there's space for one on each side, so I figured that two are better than one and they weren't expensive.

Broken door handle
Remove 8 screws remove the front panel. Un clip the door lock device. The broken side was the side with the spring on. Remove the spring, attach the spring press the close into the two pins and re/assemble the front panel. Done. If I purchased the handle again I might order an extra spring to have one on each side.

Door handle was broken
Remove the six screws along the top half of the door. Remove top exterior panel. This does not disconnect all the way, leave the wire connections in place. They do not get in the way. Now remove the broken pieces of the door handle. You may need to pull out the clips on the two sides of the latch unit and remove that to extricate the handle completely. Next slide the new handle into position on the latch. You will need ti tilt it to align the pivot points correctly. Now gently press the slotted tabs onto the pivots on both sides. Take care not to press too hard. Once the tabs are seated correctly, attach the spring to the L-shaped pins on the latch and the handle. Gently slide the locking tabs on the latch onto the locks of the plastic frame. Press gently until they latch. You may need to adjust the latch assembly position to get it to sit exactly right. Test the handle to ensure it moves freely and slides back when released, and that the latching mechanism moves up and down correctly when you do so. Now carefully reposition the whole assembly back on the door and reattach with the six screws. You are done.

door latch broken
THe upper portion of the door was removed to gain access to the latch assembly.Removing wires and loosening nuts and micro switch screw allowed me to remove the assembly. The new unit fit perfectly and after repacing the wiring, nuts and screw. The upper prtion of the door was reattached. It now works as good as new. Thanks
