Product Description

Gasket Insert Specifications

The gasket insert is connected to the gasket in the bottom of your dishwasher door. It is a small piece of white plastic that measures approximately 4 inches by 1 inch, and is sold individually. The gasket insert helps the gasket create a seal on the door, so water doesn’t leak out when the dishwasher is running. If your dishwasher is leaking, check to see if the gasket insert is damaged. If the insert is damaged, you will need to replace it. The problem may be with the gasket itself, in which case you may need to replace that part as well.

water leaking from the bottom middle of the door during wash
since they weren't that expensive, I chose to order all 4 gasket parts - the left and right corners, the long gasket, and the small center gasket insert (5" long). For $100 I decided it would either work or not -- at 15+ years old, I could really have gotten a new dishwasher. As it turns out, all of the plastic parts were getting hard and brittle and caked with detergent -- and so replacing them ALL was the right choice. they all work together. The corner pieces snapped into place and the gasket had a flexible barbed edge that I fit into place in a channel. I didn't have to take the door off or use any tools. It was a little hard to do since it was upside down and you couldn't see, but better than taking the door off. The new gaskets are soft and pliable and there were no more leaks!

Water leaking from the bottom center of the front door
The lower right and left tub baffles just slip in, no tools required. For the front door gasket; a) removed the backside of the front door by removing the door screws. You need to manipulate the front door latch to remove the panel. b) remove the existing gasket, replace with new gasket. The short 4" gasket was missing, which is why it was leaking in the first place. Replaced it with the new one. Reassembled and tested. Thanks to Parts-Select for a great experience, very well done site.

water leak, slow
The small 4" gasket was missing from the machine, and the large gasket was bent and out of place. I ordered the small gasket and installed it into the groove, placing the end flaps behind the large gasket. The large gasket was questionable, but I did not replace it. It seemed OK after I snapped it back into the door groove. Once the gaskets were properly aligned, I carefully replaced the inside door panel and screws. No more leak!

dripping from bottom door
Since i was not sure which gasket has failed, i replaced all 4 considering the age of the dishwasher,( 2 are corner baffles ). The only time i was scratching my head was installing the gasket insert. No one mentioned to overlap or not, so i did overlap and crossed my fingers. After several cycles there is no dripping so i guess overlapping about a 1/2 inch is the way to do it. And i would suggest cleaning the gasket groove in the bottom corners really good. Good luck, bill

Leaking between door panel and lower stationary panel. Not sure what part should be replaced. Problem could be linning. Just not sure,
For model number GSD3200J00CC

Hello Elwood, thank you for your question. We would recommend replacing the door gakset Part #: PS958908, and the corner baffles PartSelect Number: PS263963 and PartSelect Number: PS263964. If that doesn't fix the issue, the unit may be getting too much water in which case the float switch and valve should be tested/replaced. I hope this helps!

Forgot on my last question but looks like it might be easier to replace the door gasket and easier on knees if you remove the panel to do this and you would be able to see things a lot easier

I need to replace both the door gasket & the gasket insert on the dishwasher that came with the house. Which should I replace first or does it matter? Does the gasket insert go under, over, or into the door gasket?
For model number GE GSD3800G00WW
PartSelect logo
Hello Mary, thank you for your query. The gasket compatible with your model is part number PS958908 and the gasket insert is part number PS258653. The gasket insert is connected to the gasket at the bottom of your dishwasher door. It is a small piece of white plastic that measures approximately 4 inches by 1 inch and is sold individually. The gasket insert helps the gasket create a seal on the door, so water does not leak out when the dishwasher is running. We have included relevant videos for you to replace the gasket and the gasket insert. Usually, the gasket is installed first and the gasket insert is installed after it. We hope this helps!
