I turned off the curcuit breaker, then removed the two screws holding the element in place and pulled it out to expose the connecting wires. The connectors resisted coming off at first but gentle pressure w/pliers did the trick. Then they slipped onto the new element easily, and I pushed the tips of the element back into the holes, replaced the two screws, and flipped the circuit breaker back on. Good to go in about 20 minutes!
