The handle/latch had broken

You need to unscrew the inside door liner with a Torx screwdriver; once the door is unscrewed, you can pry it up and prop it up so you can get to the latch assembly (there are several wired connections you can't unhook easily - but you don't need to so it doesn't really matter). Oh yeah, you might want to make sure the power is turned off at the breaker. The latch assembly pulls right out but I could not get the power plugs to come loose from the prongs, so I just used the switches that were on the old switch; simply pry the little clips holding them off and remove the little switches. If you didn't turn the power off, make sure you don't touch the plugs. Put the latch back in place; make sure the old handle isn't still in the handle area; I didn't check and it was still there; I put it all back together and it didn't work. Took it apart, took broken handle out. Redid; worked great.
