Removed the two screws that held the rangetop in place, then unplugged a thingy that held a bunch of wires. Placed old rangetop upside down on floor next to new one.
Kid said "Mom!! the old top is different from the new one" Saw a lot of screws and wires (burners). Called for Underdog and made myself useful cleaning behind the stove until help arrived.
Underdog showed me how to unscrew all the elements (left all wires attached to the elements) and moved the entire intact assembly from the old to the new and screwed the elements back on. (2 screws each burner) Sounds complicated, but wasn't. Extra hands were very helpful.
After all was plugged in, checked to make sure everything was working correctly before screwing it back in place.
