Upper agitator was cracked and would not stay on during spin cycle.
No tools were required and the new part fit perfectly. It just slipped on! Easy peasy!

Had to put the agitator back on every load.
Took off the old agitator and put the new one on, then placed the cap on top and pushed down really hard until it clicked

The old agitator would fly off during spin cycle due to broken tabs
I just lined up the tabs with the slots on the spindle and it snapped right on with small amount of pressure. The cap also snapped right on. Might as well replace the cap for and extra 6 bucks if you have to replace the agitator.

I erred and did not push agitator down when it flew off in the rinse cycle--tore it apart.
All, I had to do was replace the upper agitator/lint filter. Once again, I erred and forgot to follow through on your instructions as to what else I might need for repair. Right now, I'm trying to do without a new cap for the filter. I don't know how long this "fix-up" will last; but, I hated to let go of my Whirlpool Large Capacity 29 year-old washer--the dryer is of the same age and it too is still working.

Upper agitator broken
Slid the cap of the upper agitator off, pulled the upper agitator off, used the adjustable wrench to unscrew the nut holding the lower agitator and just slid the lower agitator off. Very simple. To put new parts in place, I just reversed the process. I did not need a new lower agitator, but decided that if I am replacing one part, I would do both and get a fresh start!!

agitator was falling off and banging around in the washer
Slipped off the old agitator, removed the cap and put it on the new agitator, then slipped the new agitator on. Very easy. Took about one minute.

The agitator came adrift during each spin cycle
Agitator base was cracked, so did not fit snug. Ordered new, replaced old, all very easy and at reasonable cost. Very speedy delivery of part.

Lint filter on the agitator was breaking off.
All I had to do was just lift the old agitator out of the washer machine and set the new one in. This was the second one I have ordered from PartSelect.
Thanks again for all the help I received getting the correct part.

Can you tell me the height of the filter? My filter is 11 1/4 inches tall (25.575 cm). I am returning the filter that i just purchased from you (wp63840) as it is only 9 3/4 inches. I am hoping that ps11743343 is the the taller model.

The agitator no longer stays on the base during operation, especially during spin cycle. How can I tell if it's just a matter of replacing it, or if the base is damaged and needs something as well? Thank you for your advice. Gordon

Hello Gordon, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the Agitator Assembly, PartSelect Number PS349692 to see if the tabs underneath are wore out or damaged. You can also make sure the top of the Agitator where the bolt screws into to see if it is stripped or if the bolt, PartSelect Number PS11741866 is stripped. Hope this helps!
