Unplugged the power cord from the oven. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to remove the broiler drawer so I didn't have a lot of room to work. ... Read moreremoving 2 wire caps where the wires from the igniter spliced into the power source. Once the wires were disconnected, I unscrewed the 2 Phillips screws that attached the igniter to the mounting bracket and removed the old igniter. I had to cut the wires on the new igniter to the correct length and stripped the insulation so about 1/4" of bare wire was exposed to splice to the wire from the power source. I then attached the igniter to the mounting bracket (2 screws), twisted the wires together to connect to the power and attached the wire connector caps. I reinstalled the protective housing (1 screw) making sure the wires were clear and not being pinched. Plugged the power cord back in, turned the oven on and everything worked fine.
I had to call for a appointment for repair with GE Appliance because I thought then it . .was something electrical. The technician came out & checked everything out, turned out it was not electrical, The technician went out to his truck got a light bulb from his truck, put it in & it worked. Unplugged the appliance for safety. Removed two 1/4" screws that held the assembly in place. Carefully removed the wire guard that retains the glass shield. Unscrewed old light bulb and replaced with new part. Reversed the steps after cleaning glass cover.
