The oven sometimes gets too hot or steamy that the electronic board loses touch sensitivity. Most recently, the oven would not turn off and we cut he circuit breaker. Also, the timer no longer sounds. This might be a 2006 model. Is it possible to replace the electronic board or is it even worth fixing?
For model number GR478LXPS0
Hi Winnie,
Thank you for your question. If the oven is not heating correctly, then the issue is likely with the oven sensor, part number WPW10181986, sometimes called the oven thermostat, and you will need to check it with a multi-meter. When testing the sensor with a multi-meter, the sensor should be tested at room temperature and it should be unplugged from the oven. You will need to measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. Replace the oven sensor if the reading is less than 900 Ohms or more than 1200 Ohms. If the electronic control board, part number 9762733, needs to be replaced, it has been discontinued by Whirlpool and you will need to contact them for information on a replacement part. Their telephone number is 1-866-698-2538. If they provide you with a part number for the replacement part, you may call us back with it and we can verify if we have it available for you. You may also be able to locate the part you need by trying the following:
Using a search engine to type your part number and see if other retailers still have this part in stock.
Visiting online stores such as eBay and finding sellers that have this part.
Trying retailers and repair stores in your local area to see if they have the part in their inventory.
Talking to a local repair technician, who may have the part you need, or may be able to repair your existing part. If you are unable to find an electronic control board, there is a company called Circuit Board Medics that may be able to repair the board for you. Their telephone number is 1-800-547-2049. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.
