Sounds like it's washing but the agitator not moving

Thank you for your question. If your washer will not shut off, first make sure that the drain hose has not been pushed too far down the standpipe. If it has, reposition it. If the lid was left open, then the issue could also be with the lid switch assembly. You will need to inspect this part as well as the drain pump and the electronic control board. Provided that the lid switch is good, the most probable cause of the issue is a faulty mode shifter, part number PS16554752. how do we remove the agitator. When the machine spins it is making an awful skcreeching noise

Hello Mary, thank you for contacting us. We are providing you with instructions that will help you remove the agitator.
1- Remove the fabric softener dispenser by pulling it up.
2- Use a socket to remove the bolt under the agitator.
3- After removing the bolt, pull the agitator up.

Read morefrom pump - w/ pliers Remove belt cover (gray plastic) with socket - 3 bolts Remove wire assembly plug from socket Remove old drain pump with socket - 3 bolts Install new drain pump - 3 bolts - plug wire assembly into socket Reinstall belt cover - 3 bolts Reinstall hose to drain pump (note panel will be inside washer) Feed drain hose panel through hole and reinstall - 1 nut Re attached drain hose to exterior drain plug You are done !
Very simple to repair. Be sure to drain the tub outside or into the sump pump then lay the washer on its side. The pump is right there on the bottom of the basket with 3 bolts. You will also need to remove the belt cover to get to the plug. So simple and saves you hundreds off repair man prices.
