The selector knob is what you use to start the dryer. This replacement knob comes with a retaining clip. This is a very easy repair, the only tool you may need is a pair of needle nose pliers. Remove the existing knob by pulling it off, making sure to remove the retaining clip as well. Line up the new knob with the D-shaped shaft and slide it into place.

Replaced broken START knob on dryer.

Slid off the old START knob, then pushed on the new START knob.

I created and printed a label on my computer for use with the time selector dial, which must be set at or beyond 10 minutes, before turning the START knob.

I made a label that says "Minimum" with a red arrow that points past the 10 minute setting on the time selector dial.

My teenage daughter was not setting the time selector dial, to a point past 10 minutes. When she turned the START knob, the dryer would not come on, because the time selector dial was not set past the 10 minute setting.

My daughter had continually twisted the START knob until it broke. I am hoping she will be able to see the large printed label I put on the dryer near the time selector, saying "Minimum" with a large red arrow pointing past 10 minutes.

This is a replacement timer knob for your washing machine. To complete this repair you will need a pair of needle nose pliers. Turn off power to the washer before you start. Pull off the timer knob and use your pliers to remove the retaining clip. The new knob will already have a clip in place. Line up the knob opening with the shaft and slide it on.

broken knob that turned too freely and did nothing

I wasn't sure that a new knob/clip would fix problem b/c shaft wouldn't turn with pliers. But knob was so inexpensive I wanted to try it first. I received the new knob/clip and the dryer worked perfectly; the knob had been broken for a year before it had quit working entirely. If your washer will not start or the timer will not advance, you may need to replace the control knob. Knob would not engage, had to manually turn outer ring to start washer.

Used a screw driver and needle nose pliers to remove clip from behind the timer knob. Took 2 minutes to remove clip, i admit it was a little tricky but once you get a grip on the clip very easily removed. Replaced with new knob, old knob gear was completley stripped . put the new clip on and presto, Like brand new.A normal service call would of ran me 45.00 just to tell me what was wrong with the machine. Washer control knob and control knob broken

My son, Eddy did the repairs. He used a flat head screwdriver and a pair of pliers to remove the broken parts on the shaft. He lined up the new washer control knob dial with the notch, and pushed it down into place. Next, he lined up the new control knob, and placed it onto the metal shaft.
